A 57-year-old man died on Friday morning in a collision between a car and a pickup truck on Route 88 in the coastal city of Mar del Plata. Under circumstances still under investigation, a Renault Clio and a Toyota Hilux collided at kilometer 9.5 on the way to the town of Batán. The victim, identified as Fabio Fernández, was trapped inside the vehicle, and SAME personnel confirmed his death. The driver of the other vehicle was unharmed, according to local media reports. Emergency crews cordoned off the area to deploy a police operation, where the Batán fire department removed the victim's body and secured the site due to a fuel leak.
The on-duty prosecutor's office has intervened in the case and is working to clarify the facts.
